A Rare Ottoman Miquelet Rifle

Late 18th/early 19th century

The 14.8 mm tapered octagonal barrel with octagon bore. The barrel secured on the stock by seven silver capucines and a large silver barrel cap and decorated with chased repousse silver scrollwork. Breech, rear sight and tang sheathed with engraved silver plaques. The stock and grip and the entire underside to fore-end cap is inlaid with a diaper pattern composed with hundreds of small golden and diamond-shaped stars. Ball trigger set in stained bone triggerplate. The iron ramrod with tulip-shaped head.
