French Cavalry Percussion Pistol, M1857

French Cavalry Percussion Pistol, M1857 This pistol is conversion from flintlock to percussion by the Mutzig Arsenal. The barrel in Cal. 17.6 mm. Smooth stock with bronze grip-cap. The hammer with shot caps above the chimney. Latter screwed onto the aimed weight, the ramrod with a tulip-shaped head, and the pod at the end of the ramrod contains 2.35 grams of powder. This weapon uses the regulatory cartridge of 1857. Brass mouthpiece, grip-cap, trigger guard and the fittings are in bronze, the grip-cap carries at its end a ring which makes it possible to fix a strap, thus avoiding the loss of the weapon. On the stock a carved text: “Strassburg ist Wieder Deutsch 1940” (= “Strassburg is German again 1940”). Gladde kolf en lade met bronzen greepkap met ring voor draagkoord en bronzen loopbandband. Gladde loop in Kal. 17.6 mm, gestempeld ‘M-1857’ en ijzeren korrel. Lichtgewelfde slotplaat gesigneerd: “Mre. Impale de Mutzig” (= Keizerlijke Manufactuur Mutzig). Gewelfde ijzeren haan, bronzen trekkerbeugel, bronzen duimplaat en ijzeren laadstok met ‘tulp’-vormige stamper. De kolf met tekst: “Strassburg ist wieder deutsch 1940” Lengte: 36 cm. [II]
