French Epee Sword for Medical Officers, M1872

French Epee Sword for Medical Officers, M1872 With bronze knucklebow and guard plates with one folding guard and lock and relief of the rod of Asclepius, surrounded by a wreath comprising laurels on the right and oak leaves on the left. The hardwood grip with twisted copper wire. Double-edged epee-style blade with twin narrow fullers and terminates in a bodkin-like spear point. Marked on the ricasso. The sword complete with its steel sheath. Franse Degen voor Officier Gezondheidsdienst, M1872 Het messing beugelgevest met gladde, onversierde pommel en dubbele 'nier' vormige stootplaten, waarvan de binnenste scharnierend en de buitenste versierd met Asclepius symbool en lauwerkrans. De hardhouten greep omwikkelde met gevlochten messing draad. Rechte, dubbelsnijdige kling en gemerkt op de ricasso. In ijzeren schede met draagring. Lengte: kling: 80.5 cm. Totale lengte: 99 cm.
