French Officer's Cavalry Sword of the National Gendarmerie, M1804 Sabre des Brigades a Cheval de la Gendarmerie Nationale à l'Empire, Modèle 1804 Gilt bronze ‘garde de bataille’ with characteristic pierced ‘palmette’ guard, linked to the knuckle-guard by four branches. Wire-bound leather-covered wooden grip with bronze grip cap. Straight spear-point tapering single-edge, fullered blade double-edged at the tip. This sword comes with a ‘white’ metal sheath with one iron suspension ring. Frans Brigade Sabel der Nationale Gendarmerie, M1804 ‘Sabre des Brigades a Cheval de la Gendarmerie Nationale à l'Empire, Modèle 1804’ Verguld bronzen beugelgevest der ‘Garde de Bataille’ met ajourgezaagd ‘palm’vormig korfgevest en via vier ‘S’-vormige beugels verbonden aan het beugelgevest. Houten greep omwikkeld met leder en gevlochten koperdraad en vlakke bronzen pommelkap. Gebogen kling met enkelsnijdige schede en dubbelsnijdige spits.
