Light Cavalry Officer's Sword, First Empire, ca. 1810

Light Cavalry Officer's Sword, First Empire, ca. 1810 Sabre d'Officier de Cavalerie Légère, Premier Empire. Gilt bronze knucklebow hilt with two-pronged guards (one missing) and long-tailed engraved bronze cap. The wooden grip with grooves, covered with sheepskin and twisted copper wire. Long, heavily curved, fine etched and single edged blade with wide double fullers and flat back. The sword comes with a ‘white’ metal sheath with two gilded bronze suspension rings. Frans Sabel voor Officier Lichte Cavalerie, ca. 1810 ‘Sabre d'Officier de Cavalerie Légère, Premier Empire, Modèle AN XI’ Met verguld gegraveerd bronzen beugelgevest, bestaande uit drie ‘S’-vormige beugels (één beugel mist). Houten greep, gewikkeld met leer en gevlochten koperdraad. De greep bekroond met een vlakke bronzen pommel, verbonden met lange bronzen beugel aan de pareerbeugel. Het sabel met een lange gebogen, enkelsnijdige kling, brede dubbele geul, dubbelsnijdige spits en vlakke rug. In blank metalen schede met bronzen monturen en twee draagringen. Lengte: 97 cm. [IV] V
