Olga Petit voor Société Céramique, Maastricht, gesigneerd en gedateerd 1901
Nederland, 1901

37 x 25 cm.

Note:

Olga Petit was active around the turn of the 20th century, producing high-quality porcelain paintings after Renaissance masters. Société Céramique in Maastricht, best known for its tableware production, also commissioned fine painted plaques around 1900 for the luxury market. This interpretation of Correggio’s deeply moving Sorrowful Mother reflects the fin-de-siècle fascination with devotional art, rendered with great technical finesse on porcelain.
