A Mohr-Westphal Balance/Scale, Ca 1900. A Mohr's or Mohr-Westphal's balance is a balance with unequal arm length used to measure the specific gravity (or density) of liquids, based on Archimedians principle. First described and invented in 1832 by the German chemist/pharmacist Carl Friedrich Mohr (1806-1879), and named after C.F. Mohr and the instrumentmaker Georg Wilhelm Westphal (1836-1902). Measurement: 17 x 23 x 16 cm. Estimate: 100-150
