Dalí baseerde deze reeks op de visionaire en satirische teksten van de Spaanse barokdichter Francisco de Quevedo (1580–1645). Zijn langdurige en vervormde figuren, met fantasievolle dierenmaskers en onwerkelijke houdingen, belichamen surrealistische interpretaties van Quevedo’s verhalende kracht.

Dalí based this suite on the visionary and satirical writings of the Spanish Baroque poet Francisco de Quevedo (1580–1645). His elongated and distorted figures, often merging with animal masks and surreal elements, provide a strikingly personal and dreamlike interpretation of Quevedo’s imagery.
