A Constant Verick, 'Mòdele No. 6' Microscope, circa 1880.

A Constant Verick, 'Mòdele No. 6' Microscope. Paris, France, circa 1880. Signed to the round circular "E. Verick, 43, rue des Ecoles, Paris". A Two-column laboratory microscope. Fast movement by the draw of the flow, slow movement by the micrometric screw; mirror giving oblique light. It is composed of 2 eyepieces, No. 1 and 3; Minimum magnification 60 diameters, maximum 570. Reversal by a hinge. In original wooden case. Measurement: H. 36 cm. catalogue Note: Marie Constant Verick, 1829 – 1892. Constant Verick advertised himself as a "èlève spécial du Hartnack" (special pupil of E. Hartnack) both in the signatures he used for some of his instruments and in his catalogs. By the mid 1870's he established his own firm where a number of different microscope models were produced, among which is the double pillar model presented herein. In 1882, the firm was succeeded by his son-in-law Maurice Stiassnie. Literature: 1885 Verick catalog, page 18. Estimate: 200-400
