Three Porcelain Corpus Figures on Wooden Crosses, Vieux Paris.

Group of three devotional crucifixes, each featuring a glazed porcelain corpus of Christ affixed to a black wooden cross, mounted on molded porcelain bases with scrollwork relief. Two examples surmounted by "INRI" banners; all with porcelain finials at the base of the cross.

Groep van drie devotionele kruisbeelden, elk met een geglazuurd porseleinen corpus van Christus bevestigd op een zwart houten kruis, gemonteerd op gemodelleerde porseleinen voetstukken met reliëfdecor van rolwerk. Twee exemplaren zijn bekroond met een cartouche met het opschrift “INRI”; alle drie hebben porseleinen bekroningen aan de voet van het kruis.

Note:
These crucifixes are characteristic of Vieux Paris porcelain, produced by numerous Parisian workshops during the 19th century. Vieux Paris porcelain was known for its fine modeling, bright white body, and devotional or decorative themes. The "INRI" inscription refers to "Iesus Nazarenus Rex Iudaeorum" (Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews), traditionally placed above Christ on the cross.
