Painted Porcelain Plaque of a Eucharistic Scene

late 19th century.

Finely painted rectangular porcelain plaque depicting a Eucharistic scene with a kneeling young communicant in court dress receiving the host from a haloed priest, attended by an angel holding a staff. The setting is a stylised Romanesque or Baroque architectural interior, rendered in warm tones.

Geschilderde porseleinen plaquette met eucharistisch tafereel.

Fijn geschilderde rechthoekige porseleinen plaquette met een eucharistisch tafereel, waarin een knielende jonge communicant in hofkleding de hostie ontvangt van een priester met nimbus, bijgestaan door een engel met staf. De voorstelling speelt zich af in een gestileerd Romaans of barok interieur, weergegeven in warme tinten.

Porcelain plaques of this type were produced throughout the 19th century in Germany, Austria, and France, often as devotional images for private chapels or domestic altars.
