Ceramic crucifix in the form of a Tau cross, painted in polychrome with the figure of the crucified Christ, rendered with elongated proportions and expressive linear treatment. Christ is depicted with a crown of thorns and a radiant halo in gold tones. The crucifix is painted on a cream-colored glazed ground, and the figure is signed "Edmond B. 40" at the lower section.

Edmond Bellefroid (1893–1971) was a Dutch artist from Maastricht, known for his paintings, religious ceramics, and frescoes. His stylized depiction of the Crucified Christ emphasizes spiritual suffering and transcendence, characteristic of his wartime religious imagery.
