Rectangular hard-paste porcelain plaque finely painted in sepia tones, depicting the interior of the Cathedral of Trier (Trierer Dom), based on an original painting by Johannes Bosboom (1817–1891). The vaulted Gothic arches, figures of monks in prayer and conversation, and sculptural architectural elements are rendered with detailed attention to light and atmosphere. Signed lower right with the initials "HB" above "Delft." Set in the original oak frame with a gilt inner border. The reverse with the printed mark of Société Céramique, Maastricht.

Rechthoekige tegel van hard porselein, fijn geschilderd in sepiatonen met een voorstelling van het interieur van de Dom van Trier (Trierer Dom), naar een schilderij van Johannes Bosboom (1817–1891). De gotische gewelven, biddende en converserende monniken, en architectonische details zijn uitgewerkt met gevoel voor lichtval en sfeer. Rechtsonder gesigneerd met monogram “HB” boven “Delft”. In originele eikenhouten lijst met verguld binnenkader. Achterzijde met gedrukt fabrieksmerk van Société Céramique, Maastricht.

Henri Leonardus August (Henri) Breetvelt (1864–1923) was a Dutch painter and porcelain decorator known for his interpretations of historical and ecclesiastical subjects. His work for Société Céramique included finely painted porcelain plaques after major artists. Johannes Bosboom’s paintings of monumental church interiors, including the Cathedral of Trier, exemplified the 19th-century Romantic fascination with medieval and Gothic architecture.
