White-glazed porcelain figure of Saint Anthony of Padua holding the Christ Child and a stem of lilies, standing on an integral circular base. The Christ Child is depicted seated on a closed book, holding a globus cruciger. The group is presented beneath a glass dome on a turned ebonized wooden plinth.

Wit geglazuurd porseleinen beeld van de heilige Antonius van Padua, staand met het Christuskind op de arm en een leliestengel in de hand, op een geïntegreerde ronde voet. Het Kind zit op een gesloten boek en houdt een globus cruciger vast. Gepresenteerd onder een glazen stolp op een gezwarte houten voet met gedraaide vorm.

This devotional figure was made by Mauger Sons and Pezé (M&P), a known French manufacturer of religious porcelain in the 19th century. Saint Anthony is shown in the traditional Franciscan habit, with the Child Jesus in his arms—a vision said to have occurred during a period of intense prayer. The orb and cross (globus cruciger) symbolize Christ’s dominion over the world. The use of white porcelain and protective dome suggests it was intended for private worship within a household altar.
