A Bronze Figure of White Tara

Tibet, 15th century

Seated in dhyanasana on a double-lotus base, her left hand raised in vitarka mudra and her right lowered in varada mudra, each holding the stem of a lotus, wearing a flowing dhoti and beaded jewelry, her face with a third eye, the base sealed and incised with a dedicatory inscription to the back.

17.8 cm. (7 in.) high

Acquired in New York, September 1985, by Mr. and Mrs. Paul E. Manheim.
