Biscuit Porcelain Figure of the Madonna and Child

Vieux Paris.
France, 19th century.

Standing figure of the crowned Virgin holding the Christ Child, rendered in unglazed white biscuit porcelain. The Madonna wears a full-length robe and a garland of roses on her veil, while the Child rests on her left arm and holds a globe with cross in his hand. The rounded base is moulded with decorative scrolls and bears the relief monogram “AM” to the front.

Staand beeld van de gekroonde Madonna met het Christuskind, uitgevoerd in ongeglazuurd wit biscuitporselein. Maria draagt een lang gewaad en een rozenkrans op haar sluier; het Kind rust op haar linkerarm en houdt een wereldbol met kruis vast. De afgeronde voet is voorzien van decoratief rolwerk en toont aan de voorzijde het reliëfmonogram “AM”.
