Short French Infantry Sword, M1832

Short French Infantry Sword, M1832 Early 19th century, Napoleonic model, so-called ‘Glaive’. Handle, pommel and crossguard in one piece with a heavy gilt bronze ribbed hilt, smooth pommel and a small horizontal guard, stamped with no. ‘351’ and decorated with classic concentric circles on either side. Double edged blade, stamped: ‘TALABOT Fs 1832- PARIS’ and median ridge ending in a carp's tongue. The sword has a bronze mounted black leather scabbard. The locket numbered 884. Kort Frans Artillerie Zwaard, M1832 Zgn. ‘Glaive’ met massieve bronzen greep en gestempeld op de kling: ‘TALABOT Fs 1832- PARIS’. Brede, dubbelsnijdige kling en zwartlederen schede met messing monturen. Lengte: 62 cm. [III] V
