Marked to the base “F.L. West, 31 Cockspur Street, Charing Cross”, with rectangular mechanical stage, main focus by rack and pinion and fine focusing knob, and gimballed mirror attached to the limb, in associated wooden case.

catalogue Note: This microscope by F. L. West is patterned after the bar-limb design first introduced by Andrew Ross in 1843. It has been stated that West sold Ross instruments under his own signature.
