Polychrome Porcelain Figure of Saint Joseph with the Christ Child, Vieux Bruxelles

Belgium, late 19th century.

Standing figure of Saint Joseph holding the Christ Child, modelled in glazed porcelain and decorated in soft pastel hues. The saint is shown in a cream-coloured robe with pink drapery and floral detailing, holding a lily stem. The Christ Child is seated on his left arm, holding a gilded orb with cross, symbolising Christ's sovereignty. Both figures are adorned with raised gilt dots. The octagonal base is decorated with pink floral sprays and numbered "1115" to the reverse.

Staand beeld van Sint Jozef met het Christuskind op de linkerarm, gemodelleerd in geglazuurd porselein en beschilderd in zachte pasteltinten. Jozef draagt een crèmekleurig gewaad met roze draperie en florale motieven, en houdt een leliestengel vast. Het Kind houdt een vergulde wereldbol met kruis vast als symbool van Christus' soevereiniteit. Beide figuren zijn afgewerkt met verhoogde vergulde stippen. De achthoekige voet is versierd met roze bloemtakken en aan de achterzijde genummerd “1115”.
