Biscuit Porcelain Figure of the Madonna and Child, Vieux Paris

France, late 19th century.

Devotional figure of the Virgin Mary holding the Christ Child, rendered in unglazed biscuit porcelain with soft modelling and neoclassical drapery. Mary gazes affectionately at the Child, who reaches up with one hand and rests on her left arm. The base features iconographic elements including a serpent, roses, and a crescent moon, alluding to the doctrine of the Immaculate Conception. Unmarked.

Devotiebeeld van de Maagd Maria met het Christuskind, uitgevoerd in ongeglazuurd biscuitporselein met zachte modellering en neoklassieke draperie. Maria kijkt liefdevol naar het Kind, dat met één hand reikt en rust op haar linkerarm. De voet toont iconografische elementen zoals een slang, rozen en een maansikkel, verwijzend naar de leer van de Onbevlekte Ontvangenis. Ongemerkt.
