Biscuit Porcelain Figure of the Madonna and Child on Star Globe, Vieux Paris

Vieux Paris porcelain, unmarked.
France, late 19th century.

Standing figure of the Virgin Mary holding the Christ Child, rendered in unglazed white biscuit porcelain. Mary stands atop a domed base ornamented with raised stars and supported by a scroll-footed pedestal bearing the Marian monogram “AM.” She is dressed in classical robes with richly patterned trim, and the Child rests on her left arm, holding a small orb. Unmarked.

Staand beeld van de Maagd Maria met het Christuskind, uitgevoerd in ongeglazuurd wit biscuitporselein. Maria staat op een gewelfde voet versierd met reliëfsterren, geplaatst op een voetstuk met rolpoten en het Mariamonogram “AM”. Gekleed in klassiek gewaad met rijk geornamenteerde randen. Het Kind rust op haar linkerarm en houdt een kleine wereldbol vast. Ongemerkt.
