Porcelain figure of the Madonna depicted as Our Lady of Lourdes, standing with hands clasped in prayer. She is dressed in a white robe and veil, with a light blue sash around the waist, and a gilt rosary with crucifix draped from her right wrist. The shaped base is moulded with rocks, shells, and vegetation, and inscribed in raised gilt letters “N.D. de Lourdes” to the front.

Porseleinen beeld van de Madonna als Onze-Lieve-Vrouw van Lourdes, staand met gevouwen handen in gebed. Ze draagt een wit gewaad met sluier en een lichtblauwe ceintuur, met een vergulde rozenkrans met kruis aan de rechterpols. De gevormde voet is gemodelleerd met rotsen, schelpen en begroeiing, en aan de voorzijde voorzien van het opschrift “N.D. de Lourdes” in verhoogde vergulde letters.

The inscription “N.D. de Lourdes” refers to Notre Dame de Lourdes, commemorating the Marian apparitions reported by Bernadette Soubirous in 1858. This figure was produced in the mid-19th century in one of the many Belgian porcelain ateliers collectively known as Vieux Bruxelles.
