Bisque Porcelain Figure of Young Female Saint, by Mauger & Letu (1854-1893)

Bisque porcelain figure of a Saint, modelled standing and holding a crucifix to her chest in her right hand and a bouquet of roses in her left. She is shown in a long Carmelite habit and veil, her expression gentle and serene. The round base features simple moulded decoration and is left unglazed like the figure itself, typical of devotional bisque porcelain.

Biscuitporseleinen beeld van een heilige, staand afgebeeld met een crucifix tegen de borst in de rechterhand en een rozenboeket in de linker. Ze draagt een lang karmelietenhabijt met sluier en heeft een zachte, serene uitdrukking. De ronde voet is voorzien van eenvoudige reliëfdecoratie en is, net als de figuur zelf, ongeglazuurd – kenmerkend voor devotioneel biscuitporselein.
