French Officer's Sword of Volunteers of the National Guard, c. 1790-1795
Sabre d'officier d'infanterie Montmorency “Au lion grimpant”. So-called “Petit Montmorency”, used during the French Revolution. The saber with fine multi-branch gilt bronze decoration, showing a climbing lion, linked to the knuckle-guard by two branches. The top with a helm-shaped pommel cap. Wooden handle wrapped in filigree leather and twisted copper wire. Curved single-edged blade with gilded engravings, flat back and wide fullers.
This sword will be sold without sheath.

Gebruikt tijdens de Franse Revolutie. Het sabel met een verguld bronzen krofgevest waarin een applique van een staande leeuw op een liggende adelaar en in zijn klauwen een staf bekroond met een ‘Frygische’ muts. Houten greep omwikkeld met leer en gevlochten koperdraad en bekroond met een pommelkap in de vorm van een kurassier helm. Gebogen enkelsnijdige kling met vlakke rug en geëtste en vergulde versieringen.
Het sabel wordt geleverd zonder schede.
