J. Swift & Sons Histological Compound Microscope. London, England, circa 1897. The compound microscope is signed "J. Swift & Son. London. Patent 24960" on the base and the initial design was for Histology (the study of tissues.), with Traviss-type mechanical stage. The base has four legs, the draw-tube with double objective nose piece, Coarse focusing functions is via a rack and pinion mechanism, and thumbscrew on the top of the limb for fine focusing. Measurement: H. 34 cm. Estimate: 200-300
