Sword for Junior Officer and Infantry Adjutant, M1845-55

Sword for Junior Officer and Infantry Adjutant, M1845-55 Sabre pour Officier Subalterne et Adjudant d'infanterie. Modèle 1845-55. Third Republic period. Signed on the back of the blade: ‘M.F. Châtellerault 1870’. Gilded bronze frame with knucklebow-hilt, openwork branch and decorated with foliage scrolls and flowers. Horn grip with oblique grooves and twisted copper wire. Single-edge slightly curved blade with double fullers and flat back brought to the tip. The sword comes with a ‘white’ metal sheath with two suspension rings. Frans Sabel voor Officier en Adjudant der Infanterie, M1845-55 ‘Sabre pour Officier Subalterne et Adjudant d'infanterie. Modèle 1845-55’ 3e Keizerrijk, ca. 1860. Op de klingrug gegraveerd: “M.F. Châtellerault 1870”. Het sabel met verguld bronzen beugelgevest, de pareerschijf versierd met reliëf van ranken en bloemen. Geribde hoornen greep, omwikkeld met gevlochten koperdraad en vlakke pommelkap. Licht gebogen, enkelsnijdige kling met vlakke rug. Zwart lederen schede (lichte gebruikssporen) met verguld messing beslag en dubbele draagringen. Lengte: 97 cm. [II-]
