A Teak X-Leg Desk, by Pierre Jeanneret (1896–1967)
PIERRE JEANNERET (1896-1967) Desk, X-leg, circa 1960. Teak wood. Model PJ-030405. Administrative desk in solid teak and teak veneer. Rectangular top with an apron and thick veneer, affixed by a leg assembly in an "X" shape and a box section on the right containing four drawers at the front and a door at the back. Low crosspiece and connecting central base. Drawer opening grips in the shape of hollowed-out circles on an aluminium background, typical of the work of Pierre Jeanneret in Chandigarh. Dimensions: Height 30 in. (76 cm) x Width 45 in. (114.3 cm) x Depth 28 in. (71 cm) (+/-). ESTIMATE: £ 6,000 – 8,000 PROVENANCE: Chandigarh, India Acquired from the above by the present owner.
