A Gilt-Lacquered Wood Figure of Amida Nyorai (Amitahba)

Japan, Edo Period, 17th/18th century.

Carved standing with his hands in Amida raigo-in mudra, the face with serene expression, and closed eyes under delicately arched brows, the hair arranged in rows of coils that also cover the ushnisha, wearing long robes folded in elegant pleats falling from the shoulders to the feet, standing on a lotus flower which is located on a richly decorated base.
