French Sword for Officer of the Light Cavalry, M1822

French Sword for Officer of the Light Cavalry, M1822 Signed on the back of the blade: “16th d’Armes de Chât. A 9bre 1883 Cav’rie légere Mle 1822 E’me 1883. ‘White’ metal knucklebow-hilt with two-pronged guards, guard plate and grip cap. Wooden grip covered with brown leather and twisted copper wire. Straight single edged blade with wide fuller and flat back. This sword comes with a ‘white’ metal sheath with two suspension rings and a textile dust cover. Frans Sabel Voor Officier Lichte Cavalerie, M1822 Op de kling rug gegraveerd: “16th d’Armes de Chât. A 9bre 1883 Cav’rie légere Mle 1822 E’me 1883”. Blank metalen beugelgevest met hoornen greep, omwikkeld met gevlochten koperdraad en vlakke pommelkap. Rechte enkelsnijdige kling met brede geul en tweesnijdige punt. Met witmetalen schede met twee draagringen en stoffen foedraal. Lengte: 106 cm. (II)
