Dutch Sabre for Officer KL, M1912

Dutch Sabre for Officer KL, M1912 First half of 20th century. Marked on the blade “Yzerhouwer” and “Frans Pauwels s’Gravenhage”. Gilded brass knucklebow hilt with Lion head pommel and quillon, also with a small lion head. Wooden grip, covered with rayskin and twisted iron wire. Slightly curved single-edged blade with wide fuller. This sabre comes with a portepee ‘white’ metal sheath with one suspension ring. Nederlands Leeuwenkop Sabel voor Officieren, M1912 Zgn. Wandelsabel. gemerkt: ‘Yzerhouwer' en 'Frans Pauwels s’Gravenhage'. Verguld gevest met leeuwenkop, houten greep omwonden met roggenhuid en gevlochten koperdraad. Licht gebogen, enkelsnijdige kling en dubbelsnijdige punt. In blank metalen schede. Lengte: 102 cm. [II+]
