Société Céramique (1859–1958), based in Maastricht, was one of the leading producers of Dutch ceramics during the 19th and 20th centuries. Known for both utilitarian and devotional pieces, the company catered to the Catholic revival in the Netherlands by producing religious items like these holy water fonts. The stylized, geometric forms and restrained decoration of this pair reflect early 20th-century Art Deco influences, while maintaining their traditional devotional function.
