Three Holy Water Fonts Depicting Religious Scenes, by Société Céramique

A group of three polychrome ceramic holy water fonts, each molded and painted with religious motifs. One font depicts Saint Joseph with the Christ Child, radiating golden rays and adorned with blue floral accents. Another features Our Lady, Star of the Sea ("Vrouwe Sterre der Zee"), crowned and holding the infant Jesus, standing under a stylized halo. The third font depicts a Christian fish symbol leaping over stylized waves with a barrel under a radiant sun. Each font is marked on the reverse with the printed Société Céramique Maastricht stamp.

Groep van drie polychrome keramische wijwaterbakken, elk gemodelleerd en beschilderd met religieuze motieven. Eén bak toont Sint Jozef met het Christuskind, omstraald door gouden stralen en versierd met blauwe bloemenaccenten. Een tweede voorstelling toont de gekroonde Vrouwe Sterre der Zee met het Jezuskind onder een gestileerde nimbus. De derde bak verbeeldt een christelijk vissymbool dat over gestileerde golven springt, met een ton onder een stralende zon. Alle exemplaren zijn aan de achterzijde gemerkt met het gedrukte fabrieksmerk van Société Céramique Maastricht.

Société Céramique (1859–1958), located in Maastricht, was a major Dutch producer of ceramics, including tableware and devotional items. By the early 20th century, it responded to popular Catholic devotional needs with a range of brightly colored holy water fonts suitable for home altars.
