A bronze Nandi bull, 20th century AD
A bronze statuette of the bull Nandi, mount of the god Shiva. Reclining with the left leg bent, the head tilted to one side with horns curving up, decorative band across the brow with ornamental pendant to the centre. To the neck a series of necklaces with the lower band with large bells. Harness across the stomach with decorative pad to the back; band across the rump with pendant bells. Sitting on an oval base. The piece is a copy of the famous colossal Nandi at Chamundi Hill, Mysore, Southern India.
