A rare set of matching Imari Koro’s

One koro Japanese the other Samson France.

Japan, early 18th century.

The lobed body with two floral scroll handles standing on four splayed feet, the lobed domed cover with upward facing flower petals with in the center a gilt mythical beast holding an orb, decorated in underglaze blue with overglaze red enamel and gold, the body and cover with chrysanthemum and peonies in low relief, the cover pierced to allow incense vapor to escape.


Height 17.5 cm and 16.5 cm.


Condition: minor losses to the flower petals.
