An Imari chocolate cup with cover

Japan, circa 1700-1720

Chocolate cup with steep sides standing on a  footring, the domed cover with ring knob, decorated in underglaze blue with overglaze red enamel and gold, depicting three shaped panels with chrysanthemum, prunus and peonies all on a blue ground decorated with gold flowers.

 

Height 10 cm. Diam. 8.5 cm.

Condition: Appears to be in overall good condition, with two very minute chips to the cover.
