The Muse Collection: Sale of Hollands First Accordion Museum.

With the museum recently closing its doors, several hundred instruments are now coming under the hammer at Hessink’s Fine Art Auctioneers.

The collection of the only accordion museum in the Netherlands provides a beautiful overview of the origins and the developments of all musical instruments that make their sound by a so-called “free reed”. This special collection includes accordions, bandoneons, harmonica's, diatonic harmonicas and concertinas as well as the harmonica's of Toots Thielemans and Ronald Reagan, former president of the USA. All these instruments are located in “The Hall of Fame'', which displays a collection of 80 harmonicas played by their previous famous owners, such as The Hotchas and Charly Musselwhite, amongst other great names.

Coming up in this auction as well, is one of the largest accordions in the world (about two meter high) called : The “Grote Fiers”. Specially built in 1928 for Josef Fiers, a Belgian artist who performed together with the famous clown Grock, amongst many others.
