DESCRIPTION

A very rare opportunity to acquire an original hand painted example of the iconic French street artist Blek Le Rat’s work. The work is entitled ‘Crooner Rat’ and is the most popular image in his Rat series, with the printed version being highly sought after globally.

Blek le Rat (born Xavier Prou, 1951) is considered by many to be the ‘Godfather of Stencil Graffiti’ having begun his career in Paris in 1981, and was the first street artist to use a stencil on the street to produce his work. Banksy acknowledged Blek's huge influence on him in his 2005 book Wall and Piece, stating “Every time I think I've painted something slightly original, I find out that Blek Le Rat has done it as well - only twenty years earlier".

This is an original and unique hand stencilled artwork onto a handcrafted wood panel. Created in 2020, it is signed in the bottom right hand corner by the artist and comes with an Admire Urban Art Ltd COA.
