Hessink’s drops the hammer at € 300.000 (£ 261.489) for the skeleton of Olaf the mammoth.

The previous owner, a Dutch mammoth researcher, sold away part of his massive collection at Hessink’s, including Olaf. The skeleton is 3.98 meters high and has tusks of 3.20 meters. It is the largest skeleton of a woolly mammoth bull ever prepared and built in Europe and has been prepared with bones found in the Netherlands in the last 50 years.
